I hope you continue to take photographs for yourself! I have found that my favorites and my most cherished images have all been of those little things and places that only stand out to me! Make the rest of us see and appreciate what you find to be beautiful! I really like your website and I aspire to be a photographer like you!

Hi Amanda... I thoroughly enjoy your photographs and your writing. I could picture the scene of the dandelion photo as I was reading. I like the way you 'see' things. I KNOW of those photographs that BEG TO BE TAKEN. I hope you publish a book some day.

I've known your Mom as a friend since high school. Likewise, I have known your grandmother since then too. She is very proud of you and your talent...she spoke of it to me during a few phone conversations, after I had sent her my "Oregon" calendar.

Keep taking your "Amanda" photos!!!
Take Care

Although not directly affected by these layoffs, I find it disturbing. For one, it will be harder for newspapers to continue to cover the every day news while trying to keep that role of government watchdog and in-depth investigative reporter.

I was also saddened by the SR notice, since it is a family-owned paper and certainly not as likely to make these kind of sweeping decisions as a nationally-owned, publicly traded company (gotta keep showing that profit for investors...).

I hope the PR banked that $ from the KIFI sale into some sort of 'emergency' fund so that layoffs and such won't happen in Idaho Falls.

Personally, I'm fortunate to work at a radio group that has four people devoted full-time to our Web site M-F and a staff of morning and afternoon journalists. It's a work in progress, but our company is dedicated to staying on the forefront of news and feature content, something that is exceedingly rare these days. :(

Yes, the first picture is from the Chitta Lynch trial, where I was called a vulture. Although, to be completely accurate, it was a manslaughter case and not a murder trial. Thanks for your comments. I would love this blog to be a place for discussion as well as my stories about what goes on behind the photos.
